The policy shift from institutional living over the past 25 years has
left few people in control of their own homes. Unfortunately the majority
of federal funding continues to flow away from individuals themselves, to
fund group homes and larger residential models. Community Vision has
developed innovative ways to support people with developmental
disabilities, empowering them to live and work in their community
regardless of disability. The focus is on what people can do, assisting
them to contribute their gifts and talents to the community.
“Vision of Community” shares the support stories of five
individuals experiencing life, a choice at a time. It is full of unique
support strategies helpful in assisting people to live and work in
communities of their choosing.
